PREPARING FOR A GLOBALLY CONNECTED FUTURE

The primary language of instruction at Greengates is English, and we begin 100% immersion with our youngest during the Early Years. Beginning in Primary School, all students also enrich their Spanish language skills, and students who require Mexican educational qualifications may take a few humanities courses in Spanish. We offer additional language support for students who need it in English or Spanish, until they reach the proficiency for their grade level.

By Secondary School, our students can become successful multilingual global citizens, speaking across English, Spanish, and French. Our eldest studying the IB Diploma Programme can also study IB Japanese and IB Korean. Many of our international teachers model how to thrive as multilingual citizens in these languages, enriching our welcoming, multicultural environment.

THE IEYC AND ENGLISH NATIONAL CURRICULUM
Exclusive to Greengates within Mexico, the IEYC fully immerses our youngest learners in English and assures their strong foundation through playful activities, designed around themes. We teach a wide array of areas from the IEYC and our English and mathematics lessons come from the English National Curriculum. All have been designed to encourage our children to learn across different subjects and become hooked to explore further knowledge, skills, and understanding of the world around them. THE IPC AND ENGLISH NATIONAL CURRICULUM
Exclusive to Greengates within Mexico, the IPC allows us to individualise learning, meeting students where they are in their learning, so we can challenge or support them to grow rapidly to achieve at their greatest potential. The IPC guides our students through different subjects, connected across themes that encourage them to understand the relevance of the subjects and deepen their understanding of the world. THE ENGLISH NATIONAL CURRICULUM
Following the English National Curriculum, students focus on English, mathematics, and Spanish and explore a great range of other areas at a rigorous level that stimulates their growth and encourages their achievement. UPPER SECONDARY

In Years 10 and 11 of Upper Secondary School, Greengates students follow a variety of demanding two-year courses leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). IGCSEs prepare our students to then continue and succeed through the prestigious two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Years 12 and 13. Both are globally benchmarked and represent the most well-respected qualifications by universities, globally.

IGCSEs
IGCSE examinations are administered by Cambridge Assessment International Education. Our students can choose from several areas that are of great interest to them or may be their areas of strength, and they can explore new subjects as well. The IGCSE framework of options encourages balance – with English, mathematics, Spanish, and at least one science required – but still gives students significant freedom to shape their overall emphasis of study. Choices include French, computer science, economics, physics, biology, chemistry, history, geography, music, drama, and art and design.

16 to 18 years old
THE IB DIPLOMA PROGRAMME
The IB Diploma Programme is a prestigious curriculum designed to stretch the best of university-bound Secondary students with an international standard of excellence. Students study six subjects, three or four at higher level (HL) and two or three at standard level (SL). They select from languages and literature, mathematics, economics, geography, history, psychology, chemistry, biology, physics, computer science, visual arts, and theatre. To bring together different areas of their studies, they also study the ‘theory of knowledge’ (TOK); practice ‘creativity, activity, service’ (CAS); and write an extended essay (EE) on a research topic that fascinates them.
